I used to think that being a radio host was an easy job I thought that talking into microphones and discussing popular topics was very simple, Until today. After speaking with sports radio host Scott Jackson from espn980, I understand that any career in radio is not hard at all. Today, I asked Scott a few questions about being a sports radio host and here’s what he said.
“What made you pursue a career in radio?
Scott : “I’ve always wanted to do sports and one day I turned to a tv show and a guy suggested I do radio, then I started an internship and everything went from there”
Did you need a degree to become
a radio host.
Scott : ” yes, communications”
What’s it like being a radio host
Scott : “it’s a lot of fun, not easy at all but very enjoyable, it beats a desk job, it has given me a lot of opportunities”
What are some challenges you’ve had to face in the industry?
Scott : “It’s freelancing, very competitive considering the industry is younger than ever now, having to stay relevant, always looking to find work”
Advice for anyone who wants to pursue a career in radio
Scott : “Be involved and do everything whether its production to promotion, do a lot of different stuff, keep up with the media as well”.
